Whey Protein Smoothies

Filed Under (Diet) by Ed Sonz

If you are interested in your health and diet and keeping as fit as possible as you age, or any of these reasons, you should be adding whey protein to your diet. I drink a whey protein smoothie every morning. Whey proteins are good for protein consumption, losing weight and retaining muscle mass, especially when you are dieting. It’s a good habit and a great way to start your day.

whey-protein-supplimentWhey protein isolate is one the the truest sources of bio-available proteins there is. Supporting your immune system and its functioning is one of the health benefits of adding a whey protein smoothie every morning. It is the most beneficial type of protein to encourage the loss of body fat. Additionally, it the source of the antioxidant known as glutathione. When choosing a whey protein either in the grocery store or health store, choose one that is free of sugar and artificial sweeteners. Whey protein isolates that are sweetened with either stevia or xylitol are the best ones to choose. Personally, I buy a large container of my favorite flavor – vanilla, but you can also buy chocolate and strawberry flavored whey protein mix. Whey protein isolate tends to cause less digestive upset for those with dairy sensitivities and it is easier for the body to absorb than a concentrate.

You’ll need a blender to whip up a whey protein milkshake in the morning. There are many small portable blenders on the market for such a purpose. Keeps some bags of frozen, unsweetened fruits in the freezer that you can use as necessary when you are making a whey protein shake. I’m going through a phase right now of mango protein smoothies, but you can add any type of frozen fruit or fresh fruit to your smoothie. I also add ground flax for its antioxidant properties.  You can even combine two fruits such as strawberries and bananas or even blueberries.
